There is nothing like a nice hot fresh home made soup when the weather is cold. Soups are easier to make than you think, especially if you have a crock pot. Crock pots enable you to set the soup up in the morning before you leave the house for work. When you come home your house will smell awesome and dinner will be ready. The beauty of a crock pot is that it slow cooks the food so you do not need to saute anything or brown any meat. Just toss the ingredients in, turn it on and go about your day. The trick is to think ahead just a little bit so you can assemble the ingredients and do whatever chopping and cutting of veggies the night before. Store the contents of your prep in ziplock bags or other containers you may have and put them in the fridge. In the morning dump them in the crock pot, add the liquid according to the recipe you are using and you are good to go.
If you google “crockpot recipes” you will find yourself overwhelmed with choices of hundreds if not thousands of recipes. Chili and meatballs and pot roast also are great crock pot items. Give it a try.
